Hand block print is a technique of block printing involves the meticulous precision of hand stamping a motif onto the fabric using a wooden block. It’s a skill, often passed down through the generations, that requires patience and precision.
Ikat is a resist dyeing technique involving binding yarns and dyeing them to create a pattern before weaving on a handloom. The process may be repeated multiple times and in different colours in both warp & weft to create the desired pattern. The “blurry” characteristics of an ikat weave are the result of the extreme difficulty for the weaver to line up the dyed yarns in a perfect formation, especially in complicated patterns or multiple colours.
